I designed this chicken coop to have some functions that make life easier for my girlfriend and me to access the eggs, help the chickens if they need it, and to clean it.

This particular video shows how the whole side of the roosting box wall can open to access eggs, move the nesting box or roosting stick (where the hens huddle to sleep at night), and to reach the little door where the hens enter and exit their bedroom.

TIP: although many people use wood shavings around a chicken coop, we only use it in the nesting box. For everywhere else, we’ve found that sand work better, because you can sift out the chicken poop using a kitty litter box scoop on a long handle and the sand remains more or less clean.
